Upswing

The start of the swing originates in the left foot.

Pressing on the outside of the left toe the hips move parallel to the line of aim. With this effect, the left knee breaks inward while the right shoulder moves slightly upward and the left shoulder moves downward. In this opening movement you should still be able to see your left shoe; If you have rotated your body instead, the left foot would not be viable.

With the initial movement completed as shown, let the shoulder move in the manner in which it is being pulled.

Weight may appear to shift from one foot to the other, but the intention is for the weight to remain even on both feet.

If you now substitute left for right you would have the movements of the feet, legs and hips from the point of impact onward for the commencement of the follow-through.
